A WORD FROM GAMEX

Sharing Insights to help you Grow your Games or Online Business in 2022!

We created this blog to help Indie Game Developers and Online Business owners succeed on their way!

While developing games we met various specifics and challenges we needed to overcome to succeed, and our business path led us to the point at which we are now…

After 6 years in the game development industry, working on games for contractors, developing and publishing games ourselves, where we need to find best practices in various fields: game development, marketing, business, publishing, PR, community, …we learned many lessons which we want to share with you.

We decided to open up to indie game developers and business owners who are eagerly searching for valuable information to scale up games or online business while avoiding any beginner mistakes!

Why over 50% of Indie Games released on Steam don’t cover the development time & costs and make profits?

It is because they don’t take the game as a serious business. As the game developer, you are the business owner and your game should be treated like that.

Your game is not just a ‘hobby’ project, even though you might be developing it in your free time – the transition in mind that you are developing a profitable game that will break even and earn you a living will make you treat it differently, the development will be more cost-effective, and you’ll be working on extra skills as you improve and learn how to do it better.

During the whole process of releasing new games, we research & find out tons of new things, which helps us prepare better for the launch of every new game coming next. We decided to share valuable findings during our researches with you, to help skyrocket your business as well.

BLOGGING FUNDAMENTALS

We're focused to provide valuable content that will help you skyrocket your business!

We’ll help you get your game or online business to stand out.

In the uptrend of more games releasing every year (*2014 – 1,771 games released on Steam, 2020- already 10,263 games released!) –
you will now surely run into some strong competition in your niche, and once this happens, you will want to stand out with your game to attract more players
and reach wider audience.

No matter if you are into competitive gaming market, or Online business, the product itself is the key to success, but if no one knows about your product, you are still at the foot of the hill. To make a successful business you would be proud of, you need to invest into Marketing! Without promotions your game or business won’t get to the top of the hill, or will have minimal chances to get there.

Why aiming at Marketing at all? A bigger and targeted audience reached with cost-effective marketing will help you increase the chances of your game receiving commercial success, repaying the development costs, and making profits at the end!

How to get there?
For a sustainable business model on the mid or long term, you’ll first need to find spots where your product can stand out from the rest.

1. Define your Goals

The basics! If you know your goals, you’ll find a way to complete them.

2. Visualize your path to achieving the goals

Visualize all things that you think it would be needed to achieve the measurable goals.

3. Work hard for your dreams to come true

Working hard is the right attitude to achieve big dreams. If you are here to achieve something bigger, focus on work, be dedicated to your project.

4. Measure Goals & Celebrate Milestones

Analyze work to date, check if you need to adjust things on the way to achieve bigger dreams, divide Main goals into various Milestones and Celebrate when achieved to stay motivated on the project!

5. Test, adjust, test, adjust,…

This is a crucial part to develop an outstanding game or any other business. It’s a continuation process within various development stages – testing helps you better understand the market, product and the needs of testers (players/ clients).

6. Stand out from the crowd

The competition is harsh, and no one will care about your game, if you don’t get it in front of them. So, do you know where your product is unique at?

7. Build real relationships

Include players of your game, or potential clients of your product in the early development phases! Let them participate and share thoughts on improvements to establish a great community around the product.  Celebrate the Milestones with them!

8. Adopt the strategy in everyday work

Live the life with the main Strategy in your head – focus on the right things, so that you can enjoy the fruits of your labor once the Main Goal is achieved!

9. Prepare for the biggest day - the LAUNCH of your game or product!

The most important day you’ve been working for throughout the whole development phases. It was a lot of work, so make the Launch Day count!
A launch of your game or a product is a day filled with activities, have this in mind and prepare materials before!
